Occupy the City, We are human beings.

On August 8, 2015 over 8000 residents in the city of Newark marched through their neighborhoods demanding an end to violence. From all 5 wards of the city, marchers convened at Broad and Market in a demonstration of unity to change their city. Here, Mayor Baraka demonstrates true leadership by empowering people, inspiring them to act and be their own leaders in ending violence in their communities. Tracey Noelle Luz is a photographer and filmmaker based out of Jersey City, NJ. She is the director of "They Will Be Heard" a documentary about Cuban metal band Escape and "This is How We Win" a documentary about the public education crisis in Newark in 2015. She is currently in post production on "Bring the Sun" a short film about Shayfer Jame's "March of Crows" multi-media project with Jersey City artists. She was the executive director of UnBlock the Rock, a campaign that brought Cuban metal to the United States for the first time in 2013.
